Chicago Bankruptcy Attorneys and the NACBA
General August 30th, 2009Some Chicago IL bankruptcy lawyers are part of an organization called the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys often referred to as the NACBA. It was created in the early 1990s in order to serve the needs of the consumer bankruptcy community. The organization proudly boasts over 3500 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Being a part of this organization is an opportunity for new Chicago Illinois bankruptcy lawyers to learn new things and take advantage of social networking opportunities. The intention of the organization is to deliver endless information to their members to arm or equip them with the skills and techniques that are necessary in order to service the various areas of their current practices.
Each year for the past 17 years, the association hosts a convention for consumer bankruptcy attorneys. This year’s 17th annual convention will be held in downtown Chicago Illinois the last weekend in May. The price to attend the convention could range between $595-$875 depending on your membership status with the organization.
Many Chicago Illinois bankruptcy lawyers are expected to attend the informative events. They can also expect to receive up to 13 continuing legal education credits for attending the conference. A wide variety of different topics will be covered during the weekend. Some of those courses explore the multifaceted issues that surround chapter 13 and chapter 7 filings. A different course tackles the complex means test that was defined by the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. This test determines eligibility for a chapter 7 bankruptcy petition. If one does not meet the standards and qualifications identified in the means test, then they would be directed to the chapter 13 filing process.
The unity and diversity of this organization makes any unified actions taken more successful than a lone person. These consumer bankruptcy attorneys can pull together and draw off of the experience of other members of the organization.
